Obituary for Pansie Culver

Pansie Naoma Culver went home to the Lord on Friday, June 23rd, 2017 with family by her side. She was born in Arlington, Washington to Henry and Pansie Rodgers on May 31st, 1934. At age 18 she graduated from Arlington High School and married the love of her life, Jack Denny Culver, on September 12th, 1952 and started a family of five children; Karen Lee (Rob), Bonnie Faye (Don), Jerry Duane, Glenn Allen, and Christy Joan (Dan). She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Culver; her brother, Warren Rodgers; her son, Jerry Culver; and parents, Henry and Pansie Rodgers.

In 1966, Pansie and her family moved to a new home on a small farm in Buckley where they rode horses, raised cattle, grew vegetables, and canned fruit. From backyard farming to fishing and hunting in the wild, Pansie loved to spend time outdoors. She was an exceptional gardener and her yard, adorned with Tropicana Roses, Calla Lilies, and Bleeding Hearts, was a vibrant haven for butterflies, hummingbirds, and especially her 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. When she wasn't outside, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, bird-watching and working crossword puzzles.

All her life, Pansie devoted herself to family, and the Lord Jesus Christ. She was a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, dear friend, and a shining example of love and strength to all who knew her. The pansy flower, Viola tricolor, after which she was christened, is known by many names, but perhaps its most common alternative is 'hearts-ease', with an old belief that the tiny flower has the power to bring peace of mind to those who are heavy hearted. Pansie did just that with her gentle nature, radiant smile, and sense of humor. Supportive, sweet, and ever courageous, she laughed in the face of adversity, and always put the needs of others ahead of her own. Pansie will be missed dearly, and forever loved by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life took place July 1st, 2017, in Buckley.
