Ione Maxine Ballestrasse passed away peacefully in the presence of the Lord and her loving family on the morning of April 9, 2017, at the age of 88.
The youngest of four children and the only daughter of Clarence and Ora Baker, Ione was born in Tioga, North Dakota on March 10, 1929.
Moving west as a young girl, Ione made brief stops in both Missoula, Montana and Wenatchee, Washington before settling down in the Pacific Northwest. Graduating from Highline High School, Ione soon thereafter married Albert Ballestrasse of Enumclaw, Washington, where they ran a successful logging business and started a family.
Her greatest joys in life were her family, faith, and traveling. A devout member of S.A.G.E. (Seniors in Action for God with Excellence), Ione has traveled across the globe dedicating her life to helping those in need, building churches, schools, and homes for the less fortunate.
A committed homemaker, Ione's meals are legendary, and her knowledge of cooking has been passed down to several generations of her family, which in turn will be passed on to future generations.
Ione's love for antiques and genealogy filled her home with uniqueness and history from her travels both abroad and throughout the country.
Ione is survived by her four children: sons, David and Dwight and daughters, Diana and Ginet; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Ione will be missed by her surviving siblings, Bryce Baker and Murray Baker (Beth).
A special acknowledgement to Ione's dearest friend Laverne King, for her selfless devotion and care of our mother.
