Beverly Jean Ahnert, of University Place Washington, died peacefully at home on March 1, 2017. She was born in Portland, Oregon, and married her childhood sweetheart, Walter Ahnert in 1946. They have resided in the Seattle/Tacoma area except for a seven-year period when they lived on the Big Island of Hawaii. On August 17, 2016, Walter and Beverly celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Beverly used her leadership and executive management skills in a wide variety of positions over her lifetime and career. She was active in, or held offices in, both state and local organizations, including Executive Director of Washington State PTSA. Beverly helped to shape the foundation of the community that exists at the Ranch Condominiums where Beverly and Walter have lived the past twenty years
Beverly loved spending time with her husband, children, good friends. She loved music, going to the theater, dancing, swimming, traveling anywhere, learning new things, and making a difference in the lives of the people she met. She always left her joyful spirit with the people she touched and brought so much to each person she spent time with.
She is remembered lovingly by so many and survived by her husband Walter, daughter and son-in law Candace and John Sheehan, son and daughter-in-law Steve and Mary Ahnert, grandsons Jesse and Seth and wife, Jessica, and great-grandsons Axl and Ellis.
A memorial service will be held at Haven of Rest in Gig Harbor on March 25, at 11:00 a.m.
To honor Beverly's spirit, please wear something Red or Sparkly – or both. She will love it!
At Beverly's personal request, in lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in her name to Tacoma Little Theater or Tacoma Musical Playhouse.
