Obituary

Always in Our Thoughts Forever in Our Hearts!
Sherry Lee Holmes, Tacoma Washington
04.13.1939 – 04.23.2017

Sherry Lee Holmes was born to Rose Lea Holmes and Roy L Holmes in Tacoma Washington. Sherry's father passed in 1977 and her mother Rose at age 97 in 2005. Sherry loved her mom very much and Rose was very much part of all our lives growing up. She was healthy, vibrant and a spitfire. Rose gifted that healthy body and spitfire attitude on to her daughter.
Sherry graduated from Stadium High School in June of 1957. She met the love of her life Robert M Korver and they married on Aug. 22, 1959. Then came their daughters, Michelle born in 1960, Kim in 1962, Candace in 1964 and Tatia in 1966. Proud of their tom girls they kept us busy with chickens, pigs and horses along with sports.
Sherry has 5 grandchildren Tyler, David, Tanner, Troy and Angelina and 6 great grandchildren.
Before marriage Sherry was amazingly flexible and talented in acrobatics, she performed with her brother in many high profile events, even one for John Wayne.
In 1959 she was crowned Miss Tacoma and 3rd runner up to Miss Washington. She modeled for boat motor companies. She participated at the grand opening of the new Greyhound bus terminal in Tacoma off of Pacific Ave on April 4th 1959 by cutting the ribbon with the mayor. She met President JFK in Tacoma during one of the pageants.
Sherry was a member of the Tacoma Lariats in the 70's. Tacoma Lariats was a well-known women's drill team on horseback. They performed difficult patterns in pairs of over 40 horses, smooth synchronized patterns at rodeo's and participated in local parades such as the Daffodil and Torchlight, they had their own float and pooper scooper guys that trailed behind.
Our father passed in May of 1980. Our mother was strong and did a great job raising us 4 kids and keeping it all together. We were blessed to have both sets of grandparents nearby. Fathers side Gladys's & Ray Kepner next door and Grandma Rose.
Sherry remarried 1981 to Robert E Dixon from Spokane and he had 4 children of his own (Dan, Debbie, Doug and Donna). Sherry and Bob Dixon moved to Sacramento CA around 1989. They were members of the Sacramento Yacht Club, had many fun times on Sacramento and American River boating with their SYC friends. Sherry's other passion was riding her horses and was close to a group ladies that called themselves The Saddlebags. She really enjoyed these friends and riding in the hills of Yosemite, Red Woods, Utah, and Bishop Mtn and many other places. Sherry enjoyed the outdoors, horses, boating and her friends. Most of all her daughters was her world and life. She really enjoyed the visits with her daughters and grandkids, going over the history of the town of Old Sacramento, Folsom and Placerville. We really enjoyed every moment with our mother. Our memories with her has no price.
Bob passed on in Jan 1996 to a tragic car accident. She held a celebration of life for him in their home in Shingles Springs California and had a vigil on the river.
A couple years later Sherry met Leonard Haven and remained active with the SYC and were also involved traveling with another group of friends that called themselves the Old Wheels, they traveled all over the US.
Sherry owned a time share in Maui and Cabo which she enjoyed with her daughters and friends. She loved the sun and got to travel to Europe, Italy, Croatia and abroad. She did many cruises of the Caribbean to Mediteraian, and Mexico. Sherry had a beautiful life, she was full of adventure and love where ever she went she made friends. So many loved her in all the places she lived. We miss her greatly and know Jesus has her in His arms now and we will once again see her at the BIG REUNION in Heaven. Thank You Dear God almighty for your Love, Grace and Mercy.
Sherry died after a 4yr battle of Alzheimer's at the age of 78 on April 23rd 2017. She is in God's Presence now and having a reunion with her brother, Mother, Father and sister Joyce whom passed on at the age of 8 to drowning, before mom was born.

We love you mom.
You will forever be in our hearts.
