Obituary

Clifford (Cliff) Gundersen, resident of Tacoma, WA died May 6, 2017 at age 62.
Cliff has been a resident of Tacoma for 30 years and was born to Solvang Gundersen on November 18, 1954 in Los Angeles, CA.

Cliff held several occupations over his lifetime, but most currently spent his days helping others as a customer service representative at the Social Security Administration in Auburn, WA for over 9 years until his retirement in March 2016 due to his disability.

Cliff leaves behind his best friend and beloved wife Colleen, having been happily married for almost 19 years. He had a smile that lit up a room when he entered. He loved his family and friends and just about everyone he met. Cliff loved being a grandfather to his two grandchildren Tyler and Ellie Bagley, whom he loved with all his heart and then some. Cliff was amazingly supportive and involved in both of their lives. He taught Tyler and Ellie how to look at things in a positive light. His lessons of positivity and kindness will live on.

Technically Cliff was a step-Grandfather to Tyler and Ellie, but I don't feel that term gives him the recognition he deserves. He was amazingly supportive and involved in both of their lives, and he was always willing to come down to California to watch them. I recall one visit a precious stuffed animal was lost when they were watching Tyler and Ellie. Cliff retraced all their steps, driving for hours in search of the beloved toy and where it might have been misplaced. He taught Tyler and Ellie how to look at things in a positive light, instead of the negative. One time he was driving them on the freeway and a car cut him off. Instead of yelling at the car, he would say to Tyler and Ellie "Hey guys! Look at that speeder fish!". His lessons in positivity and kindness will live on. We will always remember and treasure his positivity as well as his indomitable character, and we are so thankful for the time we had with him. We are all better for it.

Cliff loved music, he played guitar, and wrote/produced his own songs in his home music studio. Cliff started playing in bands in his 20's. He loved to share his music with everyone, especially his nephew Brian Gundersen. Cliff was an inspiration to Brian and now music is a big part of Brian's life. He was an influential part of Brian and Kristi's (niece) life. He helped shape their lives and was a fatherly figure to them both. His other two nieces Rachel and Nicole loved him dearly.

His family and friends will always remember and treasure his positivity as well as his indomitable spirit, and we are so thankful for the time we had with him. We are all better for it. Cliff will live forever in our hearts. He was loved by us all.

Memberships: Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus

Activities – Musician - played guitar, wrote and produced his own songs. Enjoyed barbeque; cooking and good food. Cliff had a passion for landscaping taking great care and pride for his yard. He welcomed everyone with open arms, and you felt at home from the moment you met him.
