After a short but valiant battle with cancer, Lloyd T. Marvik passed on Friday, May 26, 2017, with his family beside him. He was a selfless man; known for his humor, his stories, his loyalty but most especially for being a Norwegian.
Lloyd was born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on January 23, 1938 to parents, Osmund and Mabel Marvik.
His early years were spent in the Midland area of Tacoma where he attended Franklin Pierce schools thru his graduation in 1956. In high school, he developed a love of cars, most especially cars from the 1950's, collecting several throughout his lifetime.
A proud veteran, he served in the US Army. In the early 1970's he began his real estate career when he purchased his first rental property in Tacoma. He continued that interest for almost 50 years.
Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his friends and family –from relationships formed in school, the Army and new people he met along the way. Sharing stories over a cup of coffee or a dish of ice cream was a warm highlight in his life.
Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, LaWanda Cartwright-Marvik and his four step children and their families: Roger and Marci Cartwright, Rod and Jenae Cartwright, Michelle and Bob Hanson and Christine Cockayne. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Marvik Gorenson of Tacoma.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending flowers to a loved one , or a donation to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research or Cancer Care Alliance.
