Alana Schaafsma Obituary

Alana Lynn Schaafsma, 68, of Enumclaw died February 11, 2019. She was born July 10, 1950 in Auburn, WA to Grace and William Rutledge. After graduating from Kent Meridian High School in 1968 she welcomed daughter Michele. In 1970 she met the love of her life Sam, they were married in 1974 in Reno, NV. In 1976 they had son, Matthew. They built their dream home in Enumclaw in 1979. A son, Lukus was born in 1980. For 38 years Alana was a loving wife to Sam until he passed on September 18, 2008. She was a wonderful mother to her 3 children, loving them more than anything in the world. Alana enjoyed many things in her life: family camping trips, monthly Bunco nights with friends, barbeques and family dinners. Most of all she loved spending time with her 7 grandchildren who called her “Mamo”.

Alana was preceded in death by her husband Sam. She leaves behind her daughter Michele and husband Tom of Buckley; sons Matthew and wife Naomi of Buckley and Lukas and wife Lindsey of Enumclaw; grandchildren: Landon, Ashley, Spencer, Kolton, Sammy, Konnor and Gracie; and companion Jack Babcock of Federal Way.

Memorial donations in Alana’s name may be made to Susan G. Komen Foundation www.komenpugetsound.org.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Rainier Christian Center in Enumclaw on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow at the Claw in Enumclaw.
