Carl Theodore Nadler, 91, died November 3, 2017 in Puyallup. He was born June 17, 1926 in Augusta, MO to Enos & Irma (nee, Wissmann) Nadler. Carl joined the Army in 1944. He served in the Pacific, received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and fought in the Okinawa operation with the 57th Field Artillery Battalion of the 7th Division. With the surrender of the Empire of Japan, Carl was sent to Korea for occupation duty. After returning home, Carl received his B.A. in Engineering from Washington University Missouri, then a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Missouri. He later retired from a position as Regional Director for the EPA in Water Quality Standards.
Carl’s greatest enjoyments were to be outdoors: hunting, camping, fishing and indoors canning anything from salmon to tomatoes, as well as traveling the world.
Carl is survived by children: Judith Felker (Douglas) of Enumclaw, WA, Ted Carl Nadler, Jr. (Luise) of The Dalles, OR, Mark Nadler of Bainbridge Island, WA, Chris Nadler (Anne) of Denver, CO, and Jon Nadler (Barb) of Mt. Zion, IL; stepchildren: Lisa Ericksen of Seattle, WA, Gordon Ericksen (Claire) of Federal Way, WA, and Carl Ericksen (Marcia) of Longview, WA; sister Janet Sommerfeldt of Virginia; sister-in-law Gladys Nadler; and 16 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Laurice “Jo” Smith Nadler; sister Phyllis Edwards; brothers Ervin Nadler and Donald Nadler; and 1st wife Margaret Schone.
Services will be held Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 1:00pm at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 728 134th St. SW #101, Everett, WA 98204.
