On November 19, 2017, Darrell Lee Palmer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, as the angels carried him to Heaven's eternal fishing grounds.
Darrell was the oldest child born to Theadore and Marie (Merlini) Palmer on May 21, 1955. He is survived by: his daughters Rebecca Shaw (Jason), Sarah Palmer, and Toni Palmer; 2 stepchildren; 5 grandchildren; sister Livia (Bill) Ziebarth; and brother Randy Palmer.
As a young man he worked for Crystal Mountain as a diesel mechanic and much more. If it had an engine he kept it running. Darrell was an unrivaled Operating Engineer with Local Union 612 for 40 years. He work for such exceptional companies as Tucci & Sons Inc., Looker & Associates, Woodworth & Co. and Site Development Inc.
He was a devoted family man who instilled in his daughters the love of the outdoors and his ardor for fishing. Hundreds of people counted him as their true and loyal friend. Darrell was dedicated to his community, helping at the local community center and the Black Diamond Museum. He was immersed in the Order Of Sons of Italy, keeping the culture of his heritage alive.
His other passions included being a master mechanic, computer guru, master canner, camper extraordinaire, John Wayne's number 1 fan and making sensational homemade Italian sausage. With his astounding sense of humor he found hilarity in simple everyday life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from Noon to 4pm at the Black Diamond Community Center 31605 3rd Ave. Black Diamond, WA. 98010.
