Delfina Gallegos

Delfina Gallegos was born July 6, 1936 in Corozal, Puerto Rico to Jose and Antolina San Inocencio.  After graduation, she moved to the Bronx, NY to live with her older sister, Margarita.  She then moved to Washington State to be close to family.  Delfina met, then married, Maynard Gallegos February 1, 1958 in Seattle, WA.  They built their home in West Seattle.  In 1972, they relocated to Des Moines, WA where they were parishioners at St. Philomena Catholic Church.  In 1978, they moved to Buckley, WA and were parishioners at St. Aloysius Catholic Church.  Delfina worked for Sumner School District and retired from White River School District as Head Chef.  After retirement and the passing of her husband, she enjoyed traveling with the senior center to casinos in various locations and sight seeing adventures around the state.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and being highly involved in their lives.  She would talk to her sisters on the phone while watching their TV programs at the same time.  She loved dancing and pretending she had a cooking show.  Her love and compassion knew no ends.  Delfina is survived by daughters, Diana Chatelain (Eric Byers) of Gig Harbor, WA, Gloria (Mike) Elston of Vaughn, WA and Annette Gallegos of Bonney Lake, WA; brother, Angel San Inocencio; sisters, Carmen San Inocencio, Esther Jimenez, Julia Iuliano; ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband March 1, 1996, three brothers and two sisters.  A rosary will be held 7:00 PM Monday, January 13, 2020 and a funeral service 1:00 Tuesday, January 14, 2020 both at Weeks’ Funeral Home, 451 Cemetery Road, Buckley, WA 98321.  Burial will take place in Buckley City Cemetery.  A reception will follow at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 211 West Mason Avenue, Buckley, WA 98321.   Family requests memorials be made to:  St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or give online at www.stjude.org/give.
