He wiggled a bit in the seat letting his body get a feel for it before he finally settled and gripped the wheel. Don and his baby, a custom pearl white Pontiac LeMans, were going out to search for a bit of joy. The novelty of propelling himself swiftly along, whether by car, boat, or pair of skis, always filled him with vim and vigor. Donald David Hughes loved the excitement life brought him. Born on August 5, 1959 to Esther and David Hughes, Don had always been a character and everyone in his family knew it. He loved to be exhilarated, to feel the thrill of pleasing his family, to care and nurture both their bodies and spirits. For every situation, or person, he encountered Don knew a famous one-liner or anecdote. He had a knack for connecting levity to people when they needed it, for caring and easily accepting the same kindness in return. Don was a great father, a loving brother and son, and a genuine friend. On December 10, 2019 he went to catch up with his brother Greg and his father David. There’s been so much to tell them. Now, asleep under the Buckley stars, he forever remains number one. A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday December 16, 2019 at Weeks’ Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. on Tuesday December 17, 2019 at Weeks’ Funeral Home. Don will be buried privately at Buckley City Cemetery.
