Donald Truman Ennis was born March 14, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Janet Dorothy Wells and Clarence Samuel “Happy” Ennis. After spending his childhood in Cincinnati, he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California, where he met Carol Anne Knight. They were married June 24, 1961. Don was an alumnus of La Puente High School and California State University, Los Angeles. He served honorably in the United States Navy for 27 years, advancing to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, and retiring from service in 1987. He later became a high school electronics teacher, impacting the lives of many of his students until his retirement in 1995. He passed away on July 5, 2018 in the company of fellow heroes at the Washington Soldiers Home in Orting, Washington.
Don is survived by his wife Carol; his eight children: Pamela, Spencer, Scott, Melinda, Donald, Aaron, Rachel, and Jessica; his 21 grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his legacy of faithful service to his God, his country, and his family; his generosity to friends and strangers alike; and his seemingly endless and endlessly entertaining stories.
