Henry George Schmidt, age 93, passed away on June 8, 2019 in Enumclaw. He was born May 29, 1926 in St. Helena, California to Frances M. (Thompson) and Henry George Schmidt, Sr. One year ago George and his wife Jean moved to High Point Village in Enumclaw to be near their daughter Caryn. They were previously from Sonoma County, California. George was a veteran and served in the US Navy as a Pharmacist Mate aboard a ship in the Asiatic Pacific during WWII. He graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Biology and History from USC. George also earned a degree as an X-ray technician to help himself through college and earned honors from the American College of Radiology Society. George was a retired elementary school teacher, he loved teaching 4th through 8th grades. He also owned and operated 2 flower shops in Sonoma County, including Cotati Floral Gift Shop. He was a member of the Delta Phi Sigma Fraternity, the Lions Club, the Redwood Empire Rose Society in Sonoma County and a long time Deacon in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
George is survived by his wife Jean Elizabeth Schmidt of Enumclaw; sons Michael Shouse (Christy) of Middletown, California and Thomas Shouse (Cantrice) of Hilo, Hawaii; daughters Dawn Schmidt of Long Beach, California, Caryn Sandwith (Scott) of Black Diamond, Washington and Mary Crawford (Jim) of Parma, Idaho; sister Jackie Longinetti of La Mesa, California; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; sister Florence Collings; daughter Kathy Winston; and son Bill Schmidt.

Services are scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, 2019, an inurnment service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent and a memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the Enumclaw Seventh-day Adventist Church.
