Enumclaw resident Jim Geer, 75, passed away on October 29, 2017. He was born June 21, 1942 in Tacoma to Leonard Darr and Emma Grace (Irvin) Geer. He was raised in University Place and graduated from Clover Park High School. Jim worked in the family business, Pop Geer a fishing tackle company; he served in the Navy; then worked as a jig builder and in Industrial Training at Boeing until his retirement. He was a faithful member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist; a member of the Oregon Geer’s, descendants of Oregon Trail pioneers; a member of the Sons of the American Revolution; and a living history reenactor at Ft. Nisqually. He swam 2 days a week at the Enumclaw Pool and enjoyed bike riding. Jim’s friendly smile and jovial nature were well known around Enumclaw. Many people considered him a friend.
Jim is survived by his wife of 39 years Kathy Geer; sister Janet Kelley; brother Bill (Judy) Geer; nephews, Matt (Laura) Kelley, Jeremy Kelley (Jeff Woodvine), Michael Geer, and David (Annie) Geer; nieces, Amy (Nate) Slater, Andrea (Jon) Peyton, and Lori (Dave) Kohl; sister-in-law Wende (Jerry) Hart; and one stepson Jeff Geer. He was preceded in death by his brother Darr Geer.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Weeks’ Enumclaw Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made in Jim’s name to VFW Post 1949, P.O. Box 14, Enumclaw, WA 98022. or First Church of Christ, Scientist, 1752 Wells Street, Enumclaw, WA 98022.
