James Manus, 86, of Enumclaw passed away December 23rd, 2019. He was born May 29th, 1933 in Seattle and was raised Greek Orthodox while growing up in Wallingford. Jim graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951 and attended the University of Washington. Jim served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 in Korea. In June of 1957, he married his sweetheart Mary Lou, and they were together for over 62 years. In 1966, they moved from Seattle to Kirkland and raised their family there. While in Kirkland, Jim enjoyed boating, fishing, and coaching his son Greg's baseball teams. Jim loved cross country road trips with his family to historical sites. He had a great work ethic and was in sales for over 50 years. Jim and Mary Lou loved traveling together and visited every continent except Antarctica. They traveled the world via planes, trains, automobiles, and ships. After retirement, Jim and Mary Lou moved to Enumclaw in 1990. In Enumclaw, he was very active and some of his hobbies were shooting pool at the senior center, swimming, and playing poker with his buddies. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and loved meeting new people. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his 4 grandchildren, showing them the world and teaching them life lessons. His family will cherish and remember him for his love of sports and history, great patriotism, and his frequent words of wisdom.
James is survived by his wife Mary Lou Manus of Enumclaw; son Greg Manus of Kent; daughter Judy Manus and husband Mike Runland of Enumclaw; daughter Paula Colis and husband Ted Colis of Bonney Lake; and grandchildren Caitlin and husband Spencer MacEwan, Tanner Colis, Ian Runland and Morgan Colis.
James will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. His memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 11th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enumclaw.
