Jennifer Anne Nist passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020. She had bravely fought ALS for five years. Jennifer was born August 11, 1951 in West Seattle, WA. Jennifer was the daughter of Vincent and Mary (Rebmann) Nist. Her grandfather was Seattle pioneer Michael J Nist.
Her family moved to their Lake Sawyer property in 1962. She was a 1969 graduate of Kent Meridian High School and received a BA in Art and Elementary Education from the University of Washington, Seattle.
After graduation she taught for two years in Brisbane, Australia. She was able to travel extensively in Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Upon her return to Seattle she studied interior design. Art and Australia remained important parts of her life.
For thirty years she worked in Spokane, but returned to the Seattle area in August to be close to family. Her friends in Spokane, especially Donna Harris, deserve special mention for their help and caring. Because of them Jennifer was able to stay in her Spokane home until July.
Jennifer is survived by her sister, Gretchen LaTurner (Gary), two nieces, Solveig LaTurner and Baiba Rubino and her grandniece, Anna and grandnephew, Joey. She also has many cousins in Western Washington who helped her when she was very ill.
There will be no service, per her request.
