Jewel Maurice Baker, 46, known affectionately as Juli-Buli, wants you to know that her purpose is done here and she is moving on to be with her Elders. She died March 20, 2018. Jewel was born November 13 (Friday), 1971, in Auburn, WA to Robert Sam Baker Sr. and Treva Anita Maurice.
She enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo, listening to Mexican music, as well as “old school jams,” and watching soaps. Jewel liked to make faces and enjoyed Mexican food. Whenever she had the chance, Jewel would ride to the mountains to get spring water. She talked of how proud she was of her children, and through social media, stayed in contact with family and friends. Jewel enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. She was a positive influence on the people around her and had a generous heart. Jewel had a liFe-loving spirit and she will be missed. She will hurt no more.
She is survived by sons, Jose Rodriquez of Auburn, WA, Liberto Martinez (Nicole) of Auburn, WA, and Alfa Mendoza of Mission, TX; daughter, Marielena Rodriquez of Alton, TX; brothers Robert Baker Jr. of Auburn, WA, and Kevin Lobehan of Auburn, WA; a sister Theresa Baker (Keith) of Auburn, WA; and 10 grandchildren. She also has several cousins she calls her sisters and brothers. Jewel was preceded in death by her mother and father.
A viewing is scheduled for Monday, March 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley. A funeral service will take place Tuesday, March 27, at 9 a.m. at the Muckleshoot Shaker Church in Auburn with Dennis Anderson Sr., Sandy Heddrick and Carl Moses Sr. officiating. Jewel will be laid to rest at the New White Lake Cemetery following the service.
