John Aden Wilkening went to be with his Creator on October 11, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born in Riverton, Kansas on June 29, 1922. In 1948, he married the former Pauline Harris of Yakima, Washington, together they had five sons and one daughter.
John had served his country during World War II under 4 star General Douglas MacArthur in the Philippine Islands—flying supplies to our troops from Manila as a flight engineer aboard the A.A.C.S. (Army Airways Communication System).
After the war John was employed by the Boeing Airplane Company. Due to his serving in the Naval Air Reserves he was activated back into the service to protect the Pacific Ocean shores of America during the Korean War from 1950—1954.
After the Korean War, he returned to Boeing Co. and retired there after 36-1/2 years. He served that last year and a half as a Boeing Consultant because he was their Chief Equipment Engineer. He traveled to Boeing suppliers in Germany, Norway, South Africa, Detroit, Michigan, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
He is greatly missed and honored by his loving family and those who knew him. He enjoyed salmon fishing and boating with his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Pauline; sons, Stephen (LaDonna), James (Toni), Thomas (Tracy), Robert, and Gary (Debbie) Wilkening; daughter, Janice Wilkening Ross (Dan); many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister Helen Sargent.
