John "Jack" Evans Obituary

John L. “Jack” Evans was born on March 13, 1936 in Buckley. He passed away on June 12, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Enumclaw. The Evans family, Bud, Bernice, Jolene, Jeanne and Jack moved to Mud Mountain Dam housing which became the family home until 1952. Jack and his high school sweetheart Shirley Board were married in 1955. They would have celebrated 64 years of marriage on July 7th. Daughters Cindy, Jolene and LeAnn made the family complete.

Jack joined the Corps of Engineers out of high school as part of the survey crew. During this time, Jack and Shirley traveled to Montana, Idaho, etc. As the girls came along, Jack transferred to Mud Mountain Dam. As the years progressed, he became project manager of Mud Mountain and Howard Hanson Dams, retiring in 1991.

Jack’s greatest love was trail riding at Tumac and Coral Pass with his friends. Many an adventure was had and cherished. Jack went on his annual elk hunting trip in the fall with the guys. Our family referred to this as “elk camping” and it was a retreat to get away from it all. He also loved fishing, mowing the yard and caring for his horses. Jack had a great love for his family and was always there to support and guide them. He was good man, a dedicated, loyal friend and boss to many.

Jack is survived by his wife Shirley; daughters Cindy (Bob), Jolene and LeAnn; sister Jolene Wassell; sister-in-law Vicki Adamski (Norm); several nieces and nephews; good friends Dan and Sally Rice and so many others he loved and cherished.

Daddy you are missed but we know God has you, has healed you and you are on another trail ride with Ev, Norm and Don. Happy Trails.
