Kathleen Stevens Obituary

Kathleen “Kack” Stevens, 69, of Enumclaw, WA passed away after a long fight with illness March 20, 2018 in Puyallup. Born December 27, 1948 in Gary, Indiana, Kathleen was the daughter of William and Vivian (Evans) Graff. Kack started out her life in the Midwest but her parents decided in the early 60’s to pack up the car and head west to Washington State, soon moving their family to property in Enumclaw where Kathleen spent the remainder of her life. On first arrival the family had little money and the children went to work in the fields. Kathleen took this as a challenge and was the fastest cucumber picker around.

Kathleen’s parents had her all set to attend Air Hostess School. After arriving at the airport and having her hair cut to company standards, she decided that wasn’t going to be for her and returned home that same night to tell her parents she had decided to get married instead. When her pride and joy, her son Kenny came along, Kack moved home to live with her parents and raise him. She soon became the family centerpiece, often taking care of her nieces and nephews after school until their parents got home. Whilst maintaining a home and raising her son, she also maintained an almost 20-year career at Boeing. She had an excellent work ethic and was loved by many people at work.

Much of the family life revolved around that Enumclaw property - many parties and get togethers were held there and it holds a special place in many people’s hearts. Kack was an excellent cook, something she learned from years in the kitchen with her mom and she was known for making the best potato salad, always served in the same green bowl.

Kathleen devoted much of her life to caring for their parents in their elder years, she was truly a blessing to the family as she took excellent care of them until their passing. They were true best friends.

Kack was never one to sit still - she was always on the go, always helping someone or doing something for someone. In her spare time, she enjoyed BINGO at the Moose Lodge, something that most of the family remember being taken to at least once.

When her grandchildren came along, Kathleen was in her element and spoiled them rotten with toys and candy.

Kathleen will be remembered for her tough fighting spirit, her love of family and her devotion to those she loved.

She is survived by her son Kenny Stevens and wife Bana of Maple Valley, sister Victoria Day and husband Chet of Enumclaw, brothers Stephen and Daniel Graff both of Enumclaw, and grandchildren Joseph and Taylor. She is also survived by her nieces Jennifer, Melissa, Jordan, Alon, Dustin, Lisa and Holly, and her nephews Billy, Michael, Cody and Casey.

A Funeral Service will be held in loving memory of Kack on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enumclaw. Kathleen will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Evergreen Memorial park next to her mother.
