Lance Eugene Short “Shorty” was born on April 11, 1938 and passed away on September 30, 2018 in Tacoma, Washington at 80 years of age. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Short. He served in the armed forces for 2 years in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles. Lance was a blacksmith by trade for 50 years. He had a love for animals and he made many friends along the way. Lance helped anyone with welding and mechanical obstacles with his knowledge and expertise. Mary and Lance deeply loved their children and grandchildren and enjoyed going to any and all events, even watching practices. He and his friends had many fun adventures. In his later years he enjoyed going to breakfast on Thursdays with his friends and on Fridays with his family. Lance was a unique individual who lived a full life and will be fondly remember by everyone who knew him.
Lance is survived by his children: Wendy Van Kooten, Lance Robert Short, Sara Posey; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sister, Carole VandenBos and husband Frank and his brother John Short and wife Donna and their families.
A service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 13th at 1PM.
