Lawrence Jack VanKooten
Lawrence Jack VanKooten (Larry), age 60, entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Friday November 3, 2017 at his home in Enumclaw. He was devoted to his family and his firm belief in God.
Larry was born on February 1, 1957 in Artesia, California to Jacob and Shirley VanKooten. Larry was the oldest of six children. As a youngster, he moved with his family to a small dairy farm in Enumclaw where he was raised. Larry graduated from Enumclaw High School.
He was a passionate dairyman beginning in his childhood, his belief was “take care of your cows and they will take care of you”. He could remember the number of every cow in any herd he had milked. When he would see a cow he had previously milked he would call out and tell us the number he had on the cow.
He loved visiting friends and working in the poultry barn at the Enumclaw Sales Pavilion on weekends. Larry gave his heart to all those he touched. He found great enjoyment in helping others in his community by mowing their lawns for cookies and homemade soup.
Larry is survived by his daughter Rachel VanKooten; his sons Jacob, Samuel, Matthew, and Luke VanKooten; his grandchildren Taylor, Alexis, Audrey and Skyler VanKooten his sisters, Marianne Brunner and Lisa VanKooten; brothers, Jack and Kenneth VanKooten.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob VanKooten and Shirley VanKooten, sister Hermina Swanson and step-father Case VanKooten
