Lynne Hillyer Kelley
From the time she was two, her motto was “I can do it by myself” and that continued throughout her life. She loved a challenge and got her first job at age ten on her own. At age twelve, when she helped wire Mountain Meadow Elementary for the internet, the electrician wanted to hire her. She spent many hours volunteering at Mountain Meadow helping kids and teachers. She babysat for lots of families, but her favorite babysitting job was for her cousins. Next, she got job at McDonalds while at the same time running the Student Store in high school. As an adult, she found employment at a small construction company which she ended up managing and finally decided she was up to the task of having her own construction company. The job Lynne loved more than anything was that of being a mom to Delaney and Payton and a wife to Trevor.
Lynne was very active. She loved sailing and boating. She participated in gymnastics, swimming, ballet and ran in the Jr. Bloomsday Run. She played baseball in grade school and began basketball and skiing in middle school. In high school she continued basketball and added throwing shot put and discus.
When Lynne was three, she saw a pianist on Mr. Rogers and asked the choir director at church if she would teach her how to play. She continued with piano in middle school.
Lynne had a kind and giving heart. She always found families in need to buy for at Christmas. When she read about a family who couldn’t afford birthday presents for their children, she provided them. At work when she couldn’t make payroll, she didn’t pay herself. She always made sure her family had just the right gifts for every occasion. Lynne’s final gift was donating her corneas to two people who were blind, and will now be able to see.
Memorial service will be held Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Weeks' Funeral Home in Buckley, WA.
