Marjorie Jean Vesey

Marjorie Jean (Locke) Vesey was born October 19, 1927 to Jeanette (Henderson) Locke and Mike Locke in Buckley.  Her mother was also born in Buckley and her dad in Lake Tapps.  The were divorced when Marjorie was quite young.  Her mother passed away in 1963.  She had one sister, Rosemarie (Locke) Patson, who was born in 1926, and passed away in 1978.  She attended school in Buckley, graduating in 1946, back when it was not White River High School.

Marjorie worked in the Buckley café, for Kate Greenlee, with her mother who was a cook there.

She married Vernon A. Vesey of Buckley, October 18, 1946, in Sumner, WA; and lived in Buckley until 1952, then they moved to Palmer, WA, where Vernon was employed by the City of Tacoma for the water department. They enjoyed living at the Green River Headworks, with just 3 other families. Vernon retired as Water Plant Supervisor in 1981 and they moved to Enumclaw Crystalair Park. While living in Palmer they had annual 4th of July picnics for family and friends. Marjorie was a Den Mother for a Cub Scout group for 5 years, with Ruth Ulrich in the 1950’s. She volunteered for the Selleck School District in the library in the early 1950s. Worked at the Cumberland Café for the Gleasons. She volunteered at the Buckley and Enumclaw Senior Centers, especially pinochle, for lots of years. She enjoyed playing pinochle, traveling, Reno trips with Hesselgrave Puget Sound Tours, trips with Vernon’s Pearl Harbor groups. She did a lot of camping in their camper to Icicle Creek near Leavenworth and lots of trips to Lake Mary Roman in Montana, with their friends the Stockards from Missoula. She loved her birds and spent a lot feeding them. She also enjoyed her flowers, garden with lots of tomatoes and her family and friends. She was a member of the birthday club for over 50 years, who met on their birthdays for lunch. Members were Merle Christianson, Edna Tiedman, Florence Sandness, Verna Culbertso, Betty Vesey, Jean Fugate, Ruth Robertson, Rosemarie Patson, Dorothy Johnson and Marjorie Vesey, all Deceased.

Marjorie belonged to the F.O.E Aux. 1387 Buckley, and a received her 70 year pin in 2018. R.E.A.C Aux., Buckley, V.F.W Aux. 1949, Enumclaw (Joined in Buckley in 1947, transferred to Enumclaw when Buckley Disbanded), and surviving honorary Member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors.

Marjorie is survived by her son Daryl Dean Vesey (Tracey), 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon Vesey, married 56 years and her son Daniel; sister Rosemarie Patson. Also her close friend and sister-in-law, Betty Vesey.
