Norman VanEpps passed away May 28, 2018 at his home in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 75. He was born October 23, 1942 in Union City, Pennsylvania and graduated from Union City Area High School in 1960. Norman served in the Army for 3 years and was stationed in Germany. On November 27, 1965 Norman married Beverly Palmer in Union City. He graduated from Edinborough College with a teaching degree in 1966. Norman and Beverly moved to Washington State in 1969 with two young children and had their third child shortly after. Mr. VanEpps taught at Chinook Elementary in Auburn, Washington until his retirement in 1997. He loved travelling, music, wood working and he helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity. Norman had been serving Jesus since 2002. Norman and Beverly moved to Tacoma in 2004.
Norman is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly; son Cameron (Kim) of Bellingham, WA; daughters Laurie West of Enumclaw, WA and Vickie Blakeney (Frank) of Tacoma, WA; brother Creig Merkle (Kat) of Federal Way, WA; and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 12-3 pm at Norman and Beverly’s home. Memorial donations in his honor may be made to: Tacoma Rescue Mission, 425 South Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98402 or online at www.trm.org.
