Opal Ann (Creek) Olson

Opal Ann Olson, age 84, passed away January 5, 2020 surrounded by family and friends in Enumclaw, Washington. She was born October 6, 1935 in Pitcher, Oklahoma to Raymond and Mary Creek. Opal was one of 8 children. Her family moved from Pitcher, OK to Renton, WA in 1941. She married the love of her life, Merlynn Olson in 1954 and they moved to Enumclaw in 1958 where they raised four children. Merlynn and Opal’s family have always been involved in Enumclaw churches, mainly the Assembly of God Church which is now Mount Rainier Christian Center.

When her children were young Opal babysat for several local families in their home on the family farm. In the mid 70’s she began working at Zaffes shoe store in Buckley. In the early 80’s she started working at Country Kids Boutique and eventually bought and ran the store with her daughter Kimberly. Opal was a store owner for over 20 years, and she showed the love of Christ to everyone she met. Everyone knew and loved her. She was a caregiver to many, especially her mother and her brother Cliff.

Opal is survived by her children, Kennett (Jodi), Kevin (Toni), Kimberly Spiller (Tom) and Kraig all of Enumclaw; one sister, Ramona Brooks (Tommy) of Dover, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 10am at Mount Rainier Christian Center. Opal will be laid to rest at Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park. Please share a memory of Opal with her family on the tribute wall.
