AIME CELESTE NICOLE HOFFMAN HITE THAYER
BORN 5 FEB 1982 at 0504 DIED 7 SEP 2023 at 0941
CELESTE was born at Kings’ Daughters Hospital in Madison, Indiana and died at University of Washington Hospital, Seattle Washington.
Her mother was with her at the time of her passing. Celeste is being sent off with a final farewell by close family at Weeks Funeral Home on September 10, 2023.
CELESTE was named after her paternal grandmother AUDREY IRENE MARIE ELIZABETH HOFFMAN, thus “AIME”. For a middle name came NICOLE. Unfortunately, AMY and NICOLE were two very popular names, so her mother placed great thought into her Catholic baptismal name – CELESTE, which was added to her birth certificate. And so, from then on, she became CELESTE.
CELESTE moved from Madison, IN to Indianapolis, IN and then to Eatonville, WA with her mother MYLA.
CELESTE attended and graduated from Eatonville Elementary in Eatonville WA. After middle school she attended, and graduated with a full International Baccalaureate Scholar Degree, from Henry Voss High School, Tacoma.
CELESTE attended Evergreen University for two years before moving transferring to Seattle Community College and ultimately to the University of Washington where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and then a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Information Technology
CELESTE was married to SEAN THAYER and was stepmother to Jack.
CELESTE after graduation, careered in Information Technology Management at AMAZON in Seattle, WA until her illness prevented her from further work.
CELESTE was a person of great intelligence, unbounded inquisitiveness, great humor, and found no challenge too great….her desire to excel at anything and everything was insatiable.
CELESTE thanks everyone who helped her and mentored her through the years. Especially those who surrounded her and supported her journey through cancer -- Rick, John and Emily Schafer and Jennie Sisk.
CELESTE’S bubbly personality, mile-wide smile, and quirky personality will be missed by all.
We know Celeste thanks every one of YOU who loved and supported her. Celeste’s final wishes were to be cremated -- Whether hiking on a mountain, recreating on the waters of Puget Sound or journeying to the mid-west, know she is with you.
