Betty Lynn Ray Person was born June 11, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away peacefully at her home in Seattle on April 13, 2020, with family by her side. She was the only child of Bessie and Claude Ray and in 1946 they moved to Seattle. Betty graduated from Lincoln High School in ‘47 then attended the University of Washington and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. Betty was introduced to her future husband Dave L. (Dick) Person through a UW sorority sister and began married life in Enumclaw. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother to her three children. She worked at Person Realty and in the office at Enumclaw High School. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past matron of Crystal Chapter #68, OES. She was a natural organizer and loved bringing people together. She led her daughter’s camp fire group from 2nd grade through high school. She organized friend’s river-rafting trips, hot-air balloon rides, outings on the family boat moored at the Tacoma Yacht Club and was an active member of Shipmates. She was a downhill skier, a pretty good golfer and a savvy world traveler. Betty was in her 80's when she formed a Mah Jongg group with some young neighbors in her Seattle condo building and she hosted monthly parties at her place. Betty will be well-remembered for her kindness to all. She had a heart of gold and was generous to all. She was called ‘Mom’ by many of her adult children’s friends. She is survived by her children Jack and Catherine Person, her grandchildren Kerry and Kimberly, four great-grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick and son Keith R. Person. At Betty’s request, a private grave-side service was held.
