Carla J. Clevenger, age 74, passed away April 12, 2021 at her home in Enumclaw with her daughter by her side. She was born September 23, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA to Roy Eugene and Lois Marie (Hughes) Clevenger. Carla moved to Enumclaw from California 44 years ago. She worked as a paralegal in Enumclaw and Seattle for many years, then as the office manager at Westwood Elementary for 10 years. After retiring from the school district she worked at Ben Franklin Crafts in Bonney Lake where she enjoyed working in the fabric department and sewing samples to display in the store.

Carla loved spending time with her family and friends. Being a grandma and a great grandma brought her great joy. An energetic person with a beautiful smile and a warm personality, she was a good listener who encouraged others with kind words. Carla always had a sewing or quilting project in progress. As a talented quilter and seamstress, she made countless gifts for family and friends and looked forward to yearly quilt retreats with Sew and Sews Quilt Group. Carla’s creative interests also included knitting, crocheting, and decorating her home with homemade accents for every holiday. She enjoyed scenic drives, traveling to warmer places, quick trips to Reno and genealogy research. If it was sunny, she loved being outside, gardening, picking berries, watching the hummingbirds at her feeder, or just sitting in the sun.

Carla was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Sales of Enumclaw, WA; son, David Buser of Medical Lake, WA; grandchildren, Gabe Sales (Anna) and Grace Sales; great grandchildren Carter and Mason; aunt, Vonda Dwy; numerous cousins and lifelong friends. She was preceded by her parents and her brother Bruce Clevenger.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Remembrances may be made to: CHI Franciscan Hospice, PO Box 1502, Tacoma, WA 98401-9836.
