Celeste Nitz Obituary

Celeste Alexandria Nitz of Buckley, WA, went to Heaven peacefully surrounded by family at age 34 on Jul. 21, from an 11-month battle with Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma. She was born on July 8th, 1988, in Modesto, CA to Donald C. Bettencourt and Ann Louise Rutherford-Bettencourt. She graduated from Enumclaw High School in 2006 and then worked as a swim instructor for the Muckleshoot Health and Wellness Center until 2015. She married Jesse Aubrey Nitz on Jul. 19th, 2014, in Buckley, WA.

 

She was an accomplished swimmer since the age of 5 and has since broken multiple school swim records for Enumclaw High school. She attended culinary arts school in 2008 and had a passion for cooking and baking cakes for her family birthdays and gatherings. Most of all, she loved being a mother, sister, wife, daughter, and friend. She shared her love of the outdoors with her husband and kids and would frequent Mt Rainier to gather berries with her family. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Enumclaw, WA and baptized by Pastor Mark Karle in 2003.

 

Celeste was preceded in death by her grandmother Joanne Mattson Bettencourt on Nov. 15th, 1997. Celeste was survived by her husband Jesse Aubrey Nitz; daughters: Gwendolyn Aubrey Nitz age 6, Matilda Rose Nitz age 5; son: Ira Elis Nitz age 3; grandparents: Donald Bettencourt of Fort Bragg, CA, Shirley Rake of Stockton, CA, and James Rutherford; parents: Donald Bettencourt and Ann Rutherford-Bettencourt of Buckley, WA; brother and sister-in-law; Christopher and Lindsey Bettencourt of Buckley, WA

 

Celebration of Life will be held at Hope Lutheran Church located at 1316 Garfield St Enumclaw, WA 98022 on Sunday, Aug 7th at 3:00pm.
