Obituary

David Alan Moorehouse entered this world on December 4, 1962 in Seattle, Washington as a son to Karen and Donald Moorehouse. He passed away, suddenly, on July 30, 2023 in Reno, Nevada. Sixty years on earth was not long enough, but he lived every day to the fullest and blessed the lives of all he connected with.

Dave had a colorful childhood. He told us great stories of his Scenic Hill friends. These stories had a little bit of everything - mischief, laughter and fun. Many of these friends became family. Dave graduated from Kent Meridian in 1981. During High School he was a multisport athlete. His next chapter in life began and he served in the Navy from 1984-1990. After graduating from BE/E school in Great Lakes, Illinois, he proceeded to serve on the DD 990 USS Ingersoll and the DD 984 USS Leftwich as a Fire Control Technician. Dave was assigned to the Phalanx CIWS (Close-in Weapon System). While serving he enjoyed playing on the ship’s soccer team. He met many life-long friends and enjoyed playing soccer all around the world. He was stationed in San Diego, CA, Great Lakes, IL, Long Beach, CA and Honolulu, HI.

After leaving the Navy he focused on his role of being a father and entrepreneur. He raised three wonderful children with the support and love of Jolene Moorehouse. He started a successful telecommunications business, Steelhead Communications. Dave loved his Steelhead family.

When he wasn’t working you could find him coaching soccer, fishing, snowmobiling, out on his boat, or going on an adventure with his family. From Disneyland to Cozumel, we shared many wonderful vacations. His life was full of laughter, pranks, adventure and unconditional love. Dave always lent a helping hand and gave more than he took; his generosity never went unnoticed.

Dave is survived by his three daughters, Brittney Smith (Blaise Smith), Ciara Moorehouse (Tom Netzer) and Savanna Moorehouse. He will always hold a special place in his three grandchildren’s hearts who he treasured, Cullen Netzer, Oliver Netzer and Cole Smith. His love will live on through his three siblings, Dan Moorehouse, Cindy Soule and Tammie Clinton. Dave was blessed with love by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews and friends who he considered family.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Karen Moorehouse and his father, Donald Moorehouse.

To honor Dave’s legacy, we invite you to donate in his name to the Tower Family Foundation. Two of his biggest passions in life were work and giving to those in need. The Tower Family Foundation is an organization that helps provide financial assistance to family members of an injured, permanently disabled, or deceased tower worker.

Dave’s Celebration of Life will be held this fall. A public announcement will be made when we have the details finalized. The only way he would want to be remembered is by love, laughter and memories.
