Donald Lee Smith was born in Seattle Washington on August 7, 1941, and died on May 20, 2022, in Thousand Palms, California. Donald married Barbara in Auburn, Washington on June 2, 1963. Shortly after their marriage they had their first son, Jeffrey. Seven years later they had their second son, Steven. Donald was quite involved with the Kent Seventh Day Adventist Church and did many duties as a Deacon and assisted in many of the church’s functions. Donald enjoyed many activities and loved being on the water, taking friends and family waterskiing. He also attended garage sales regularly. He also enjoyed owning a restored 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop and would go to car shows regularly. He eventually moved to Thousand Palms California, where he enjoyed the warm weather.
Donald enjoyed a lengthy career at Industrial Gasket in Seattle, Washington, a business started by his brother. He later joined his wife Barbara at her new business, Steel Rule Concepts in Kent, Washington. It was family owned and operated for seventeen years until it was sold in 2004, and they both decided to retire. Donald lost his first wife Barbara in 2009. In 2010 he remarried his second wife, Alicia in Hawaii. She passed away in 2012.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, mother, and both wives and is survived by his two brothers, sister and two sons.
A funeral service will be held for Donald and his family on Friday, June 24th at Weeks' Funeral Home in Buckley, WA, starting at 11am. Following the funeral service will be a gathering by Donald's graveside at the Buckley City Cemetery, which is located directly behind the funeral home.
