Douglas Morris Obituary

Douglas Allen Morris. April 25, 1944 – July 25, 2020 “Our Hero”

With broken hearts once again, we are very sad to announce the unexpected loss of our amazing dad Dougie “The Rock”.

Dad was born in Seattle, WA in 1944 and was raised in Skyway where he attended Rainer Beach High school. After high school dad enlisted in the US Army and served from 1961-1965. In May of 1969 dad married the love of his life Glenna Kay Morris, each bringing to children from previous marriages to the family. In November 1969 they welcomed their first son together and in March 1972 they welcomed their second son. The family lived together in Kent, Enumclaw, Ocean Shores, Spanaway and finally Glenna and Doug settled in Malott in 2013.

Mom and Dad were together almost 50 years until she passed in November of 2018. Only 20 months later God took our Dad home to be with Mom. Not a day went by that Dad did not miss Mom with all his heart. Every morning and night he would open her door to say good morning or good night and that he missed and loved her. Never one time did he turn off her light. He constantly had visits from mom. He would tell us about them and would say “I can smell her perfume in my room, it was as if she was sitting next to me it was so strong”. Dad was always here for us as we grieved together for our mom. Pretty safe to say he missed Ol’ Ma! These last 20 months I can’t explain, we cried, we laughed, we loved each other, we became even closer and we were close before. We truly had the best dad ever and never took that for granted.

Dad was a dreamer, a poet and very much a positive, laid back, easy going man. He was a super funny, extremely caring, and loving dad. We were blessed to hear every day how much he loved us. He loved to fish, hunt, camp, gold pan and search for big foot but most of all he loved to be with his family and teach us the things he was so passionate about.

I could write a book on just how amazing he was.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, James Henry Sr and Bernice Morris; In laws, Glenn and Lillian Ellis; wife, Glenna Kay Morris “His True Love” and best friend; many aunts and uncles and grandparents.

Douglas leaves behind his brother, James Henry Morris Jr and wife Lee; children, Brad Morris, Brian Morris, Tim Bennett, Mike Bennett, Kelly Morris-Housel and Danny Morris. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of whom he loved so very much.
