Earline M Shields, 90 of Enumclaw, died March 2, 2018. She was born in Libby, MT September 19, 1927 to Earl and Alice McCrory.
She was the oldest of 4 daughters. She was raised on a small farm on the banks Kootenai River near Libby. She graduated from high school in 1945, then she started college in Cheney WA for a short time. She met the love of her life, John B Shields at a cannery in Eastern WA where they were both employed. They were married February 15, 1947 and made their first home in Grandview WA. In 1960, they made the move to Seattle for John to work on the Space Needle for the 1962 World’s Fair. They moved to Enumclaw in 1963 to raise their 7 children. In 1969 she opened Crystal Coiffeurs which she ran for 28 years. Earline enjoyed family get-togethers and her annual large Shields Christmas party with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved bowling, morning walks, and coffee with her friends, camping and traveling in their motorhome. They took long trips traveling from Baja, Mexico to Fairbanks, AK from the West to East Coast and across Canada, down the East coast to Florida and back across the United States. She was a long time active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Shields & wife, Sue, Kevin Shields & wife, Gina, son-in law, Tom Jameyson all of Enumclaw; daughters, Paula Watterson & husband, Tom of Enumclaw, Maureen Weisbeck & husband, David of Buckley, Denise Streeter & husband, Steve of Enumclaw and Shawn VanWieringen & husband, Gregg of Enumclaw. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Wheeler of Libby, MT and sister-in-law’s, Rose Helen Dapper of Seattle and Carol Shields of Madison, AL and 27 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years John Bernard Shields on February 28, 2012, daughter, Christine Jameyson on March 1, 2018; sisters, Sheila Harris of Montana and Sharon Neff of Anchorage, AK, granddaughter, Alisha VanWieringen and great grandson, R.J. Watterson.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday March 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw. Memorials may be made to; N.W. Kidney Foundation, PO Box 3035 Seattle WA.
