She will be best remembered for her heartwarming smile. Harriet Marie Ross (Starr), age 73, daughter of Agatha (Dominick Jerry) and Alex Starr, was born at home on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation on March 23, 1950. She passed away on April 3, 2023, at the Life Care Center in Federal Way, Washington. Born and raised on the Muckleshoot Indian Reservation, Harriet was a lifelong member of the Muckleshoot Shaker Church. She loved listening to oldies (Elvis in particular), playing BINGO, crocheting, and watching game shows & old westerns on the television. Harriet could be found at numerous MIT community events, at the Elders Complex, or at the Muckleshoot Tribal School. You just never knew where you would run into Harriet next.
Harriet loved her family and had a gift of making everyone feel like family. She was always crocheting a baby blanket for the newest addition to the family. While Harriet was known to dote on and spoil her family, she would have insisted that she, herself, was NOT SPOILED. Oh, and she most likely would have called you “LOVEY” as she was insisting to you that she was not spoiled. Those who knew Harriet would describe her as nothing but kind, loving, caring, warm and wonderful. She will be missed more than words can say.
Harriet was predeceased by her parents, Agatha and Alex, her siblings Lena, Lloyd, Edna, Vernon, Frankie, Helen “Daisy”, Delbert “Dub”, Alfred “Spook”, Vivian and Marjorie. Harriet leaves behind her devoted husband, Marvin “Butch” Ross Jr., her children, Wendy Starr-Lloyd (Byron Lloyd), Diane PaigeStarr (Rick Paige), and Melvin John Ross (Angela Ross), grandchildren Tiffany Escalon, Stephanie “Lindy”
Lindgren, Michael Lindgren, Tamicka Elkins, Christian Starr-Paige, Aiden Paige-Starr and finally grandpups, Vanellope, Mateo and Thor. Harriet had one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews who have been left with precious memories.
A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2023 between 1:00-3:00 pm. Services to be held at the Muckleshoot Shaker Church on Friday, April 7, 2023. Final resting place will be New White Lake Cemetery.
