Igor Olegovich “Ty” Tyapugin left us at the young age of 40 on November 12, 2021 after a long battle with Liver Disease surrounded by family and friends in Buckley, WA. Igor was born on January 20, 1981 in Kirov, Russia and was the eldest son to Alla Yurievna Tyapugina and Oleg Igorevich Tyapugin and brother to Ilya Olegovich Tyapugin.
Igor will always be remembered for his smile. Since the first day from the hospital held in his father’s arms, he always carried a smile that captured people’s hearts and made him popular. Thanks to his mother creating a spark at young age, he found a love for dancing that lasted him his whole life. Igor excelled at everything from dancing, going to Bellevue City University for Business Degree to making many long-lasting friendships and impacting people’s lives anywhere he went.
In 1997 Igor’s family moved to the United States where he attended Juanita High School. Igor was popular, intelligent and could have picked any career path he wanted. He chose to defend his adoptive country. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Army Reserves in 2000 as a CH-47 helicopter mechanic. Once graduated from Advanced Individual Training Igor entered Flight Platoon and became a Flight Engineer with A Company 5th of the 159th Aviation Regiment.
In 2003 Igor was deployed to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom/Enduring Freedom. He flew hundred if not thousands of combat hours. He received numerous medals and awards for his efforts during those trying times away from family and loved ones. Igor loved the Army and crewing on Chinooks. The Army loved him so much they used him for a recruitment video and thanks to that Igor will forever be immortal. Igor’s biggest regret was leaving the Army and all the relationships built throughout the many years of service.
Life after the Army was a struggle for Igor. But he did find happiness with his Can-Am motorcycle which he transformed to look like a crusader’s steed, organizing a local Pokémon Go group, visiting his brother Ilya and camping together, going to the ocean, and discovering a new passion and talent for cooking.
Igor is survived by his family Mother Alla and Father Oleg, Stepfather Mike, Brother Ilya, Half-sister Olga, Sons Jake and Dylan, Girlfriend Jamie, Stepsisters Shanna and Erica.
Igor will be missed by his military family as well: Bobby Hurn, Kevin Darling, Scot Brown, Tara Jordan, Greg Lincoln, Dwayne Resnik, Kidst Messelu, Alxie Zante, Joe Quintanilla, Derrick Truitt, Patrick Suther, Richard Schamahorn, Charlie Ross, Patrick McCann, Stephen Rhoads, Kevin Jeffcoat, Brent Dhoore, Eugene Mash, Rocky Kelly, David Ladzick, Jim Lilleston, Patrick Lance, Michael Noche, Liuva Ruiz, Joshua Knott and many more….
