Iver Oster Obituary

Iver Oscar Oster was born on November 6th, 1931 and grew up on his family farm in Hazen, ND. He was baptized on December 13th, 1931 and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. After completing school to the 8th grade, and working on the family farm, he served in the US Army from December 9th, 1953-November 28th, 1955. He was stationed in Panama during this time and worked on the printing press where he achieved the ranking of Specialist 3rd Class. Upon his return, he met Evelyn Doris Kosel. They were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale, ND on June 17th, 1956. They began their married life on their family farm in Wing, ND, but soon built their own home in Bismarck, ND, which served them for 5 years. With their quickly growing family, Iver decided to relocate them to Enumclaw, WA, where he worked as a union carpenter by trade until his retirement in 1991.  Iver and Evelyn were blessed with six children, Garret, Brenda, Jeffrey, Kevin, Patrick, and Angela.

In retirement, Iver spent his time woodworking, reading, fishing, overseeing, and helping his own children’s building endeavors, hanging out at the Enumclaw Sales Pavilion, and finding the best garage sale deals. Iver spent his last three years at High Point Village in Enumclaw, WA until his death on May 3rd, 2023 at the age of 91.

Iver is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Doris Oster; parents, Anna M. and Jacob J. Oster; brothers, Elmer, Lawrence, and Dennis Oster; sisters, Marlene Wolfer and Luella Hacker.
