James H Dailey passed away unexpectantly in his Maple Valley home, from a ruptured Aortic Aneurism. Jim was raised in Burlington, Iowa, the son of John and Dorothy Dailey, with two older sisters and a twin sister. He attended Catholic schools and then the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of the Notre Dame Glee Club and loved music. He learned to sail and boat on the Mississippi River and canoed in the North Woods as a young man. He served in the Navy as Lieutenant JG and then earned a Law Degree from the University of Iowa.
He married his first wife, Mary Colette Dailey, in 1963 and moved to the Pacific Northwest, starting out at the Attorney General's office in Olympia. He later joined a private law practice in Redmond, WA and also served as City Attorney. With his first wife, he had five boys, was active in the Redmond community, helped found the Redmond Rotary Club, and was part of bringing the Microsoft campus and the 520 Highway to Redmond.
On September 1, 1991, he married Sylvia "Sue" Rudeen-Dailey. After retiring from his Law Practice, he joined Sue in her Real Estate business. Together they have many clients in the Seattle-Tacoma and Tucson, AZ communities. They also traveled widely, visiting Mexico, China, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and numerous European countries. Jim loved being with friends on his travels and playing Golf. He was a deeply devout Christian and found joy and love in his growing and extended blended family. He valued duty and service to the community.
James Henry Dailey is survived by his his wife Sylvia "Sue" Dailey, his sisters Jackie Johnson, Mary Knott and Joanne Bauer, his sons, James P. Dailey, Sean M, Dailey, Brian T. Dailey, Brendan M. Dailey, Kevin C. Dailey, , and Sue's children Gregory P Dideon, Christopher D Dideon, Scott PS Dideon, Michelle "Mimi" Ditusa as well as 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, all living in the Puget Sound area.
There will be a Celebration of Jim's Life on Saturday August 14th, 2:00PM, at New Hope Presbyterian Church at 19800 108th Ave SE Kent, WA 98031.
