James Scott Obituary

James (Jim) T. Scott of Enumclaw passed away the morning of December 10th, 2021. He was 77 years old.

Jim was born on May 17th, 1944, to Clarence and Viola Scott in Pratt, Kansas. Jim was one of twelve children who knew the value of hard work and the love of family.

Jim’s parents moved the family to Missouri where he spent much of his childhood. Sitting in a coffee shop as a young man, Jim was approached by a stranger who said he was clearing power lines in Oklahoma and looking for hard workers. Jim replied, “I’m your man”.  After the work was completed, he headed out west to California and worked at his brother’s auto related shop before discovering his calling for the aerospace industry. He was a superb welder and became a master at his craft.

Jim joyously welcomed his daughter Lisa into this world on March 28th, 1964 and was an incredibly devoted father. When the teenage years came, neighbors would find father and daughter talking and sharing stories together, with smiles and the sounds of laughter. Jim deeply loved Lisa and valued her many talents including the art she created.

One of their neighbors, Nancylea Sage, started sharing and smiling with them. On June 26th, 1982, Jim and Nancylea were married, and his large family of origin became even greater. Jim was deeply dedicated to his wife of nearly forty years and was known to play a romantic country song or two.

In 1989 Jim and Nancylea moved to Washington State and in 1994 settled in the town of Enumclaw, gateway to Mt. Rainier. He continued supporting the aerospace industry until retirement.

Jim had a gift with kids and made it to every birthday party and family celebration for his niece, Cassandra Sage and her four children. Many a photo exist of Jim playing with the kids on the floor, feeding them in their highchairs, or holding one of them on his lap.

Jim will be remembered as the man you could count on whenever help was needed. He was someone who listened intently and thoughtfully, truly present in every word said.

Jim is survived by his wife, Nancylea, daughter Lisa, siblings; Shirley Radewan, Pauline Akins, Dub, Ernie, Albert and Frank Scott; brothers-in-law Larry Sage (Nancie), Jim Sage (Deni), nephew Wes Sage (Lora), niece Cassandra Sage (Patrick) and many grand nieces and nephews!
