Janice “Jan” Thelma (Sweaney) Reising, passed at age 79, on February 13, 2021 where she resided in Buckley with her husband Henry Paul Reising. Paul and two sons, William, and Andrew Fonda were by her side. Born June 7, 1941 to Warren and Dorothy Sweaney of Milton. Jan graduated from Fife High School in 1959. At Central Washington University, she earned her teacher’s certificate in 1963 and was voted Miss Central WA U for her inner and outer beauty! A consummate learner herself, she taught health and fitness at Queen Anne High School for one year, and later in life taught horticulture at Decatur HS. Jan married Paul Reising in 1980, becoming stepmother to Ann, Melisa, and Paul Reising. Jan enjoyed cooking, snow skiing, running, reading, and attending UW Husky and Seattle Seahawk football games. Healthy and fitness was her focus, and she was a frequent participant in the Sound to Narrows and St Patrick Day Dash runs. Jan owned and operated “Jan’s Plants and Gifts” in Federal Way, which became a Mecca for gardening enthusiasts; Federal Way News crowned her “The Fuchsia Queen”. Her home garden was amazing, a favorite participant in the Federal Way Garden Tour. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, first husband Leonard Fonda, and sister Patricia. She is survived by sister Alice Smithers, husband, two sons, three stepchildren, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Jan is remembered as an intelligent, caring, fun loving beauty!
