Jason Sulkosky Obituary

Jason Lee Sulkosky, age 50, of Buckley, WA, passed away after a short but brave battle with cancer on February 8, 2024 at home surrounded by his wife, Jill, father, Dan and his constant companion, his cat, Daisy Mae.

Jason was born on February 27, 1973 to Daniel and Karen Sulkosky in Seattle, WA. He grew up in Auburn, WA attending Auburn schools. Jason attended college studying Forestry at Green River College in Auburn, WA. Prior to completing the forestry program Jason was presented an opportunity to begin work at the Boeing Company. He began a 27 year career at Boeing working as an Expeditor (MPRF).

In 1990, Jason met the love of his life, Jill, they married in 1999 and started their home in Buckley, WA that same year. Jason and Jill loved doing life together, spending time with family and friends, camping, offroading, adventuring, taking long drives or even short ones, one of his favorites was driving the Buckley Loop. While Buckley was home, Jason also felt at home in the outdoors. He loved fishing, especially on the Grande Ronde, the Snake and the Cowlitz rivers. Jason obtained his Merchant Mariner Credentials guiding several fishing trips for family, friends, co-workers and clients along these rivers. Jason enjoyed hunting with his dad, cousins and friends. In recent years,Jason took his love of the outdoors, partnering with friends opening a stump grinding business, SPY Stump Grinding. Jason always sought adventure, a great bargain, whether it be fishing gear, heavy equipment, motorized scooters, a baker's dozen of Fisher Scones or even a GEO Tracker.

In March 2021, Jason was diagnosed with ocular melanoma. He continued to show grit and determination when faced with adversity. He adapted and overcame obstacles while continuing to do the things he loved most, even with the loss of his eye. Jason, always the prankster and one who loved gadgets, worked with his Ocularist to create a prosthetic eye with a laser beam, this would be known as his “party trick eye”. Jason never met a stranger, appreciated hard work, and a great steak followed by dessert. Jason loved to share fishing stories, was a big kid at heart, a wonderful husband, the best son there ever was, and a friend to all who crossed his path.

Jason is survived by his wife Jill Sulkosky, father, Daniel Sulkosky, cat, Daisy Mae, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, mother in law, brother in law, nieces and great nephew. He is preceded in death by his mother, Karen Sulkosky, aunt, Diane Payne and grandparents Robert and Marcella Payne.

Services will be held Monday March 11, 2024 at 12 noon at Mt. Rainier Christian Center in Enumclaw, WA with a Celebration of Life following at the Eagles in Buckley, WA.
