It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joanne Loretta Bockelman (Barrett) of Eatonville WA. Joanne passed away in the afternoon of Tuesday, December 19, 2023, while at her favorite place, home.
Joanne was born on September 21, 1953, in Bellingham, WA to Bruce and Jean Barrett. She was a dedicated nurse for over 40 years; 11 years at Enumclaw Hospital and the following 30 at Rainier School. Joanne loved helping people, especially the clients of Rainier School where she retired at the age of 62.
Joanne was a dedicated, lifelong Mariners fan who loved to root for her team. She rarely missed a game, even if it meant listening to it on an AM radio in the middle of a lake! In her free time, she loved white water rafting, fishing, camping, playing league softball and bowling. Some of her favorite pastimes were being at home where she enjoyed gardening and planting flowers. Joanne also loved to grow fruit for her homemade jam and always had buckets available for the grandkids to help! Most of all, she enjoyed her family and any time she was able to spend with them.
Joanne was met at the gates of heaven by her Parents, Sister June, Brother Tom, and the many dogs that she loved dearly. Joanne leaves behind her husband Patrick of 32 years, Brother Dan, Son Jacob, Daughter Heather, Niece Chaela, Son Roger, and grandchildren: Grace, Xandra, Peyton, Haleigh, Trenton, and Rylee. Joanne also leaves behind many other family members that she loved dearly.
There will be a celebration of life in the near future, and we will let you know once we have a date. In lieu of flowers, please just take time with family, spread some joy, love and kindness and remember Joanne for the beautiful soul that she was to all of us.
