Judith Knittel

Judith Venita Knittel, Judy was born July 26, 1939 to Leslie and Lenora Gysbers in Tracy, MN.  She had 1 brother, Randolf Gisbers, who preceded her in death in 1995.  In her youth she loved to ice skate.  She talked many times of walking to and from the park, in her ice skates or being able to flood a garden area at home and have a private rink.  In 1952 she moved to Bremerton, WA with her mother and brother where she attended Bremerton High School.  In 1964, divorced, with 2 small daughters, she married Wayne a widower with 2 small sons and 1 daughter, the children ages on the day of the wedding 3-5-5-5-6.  Together they raised Cynthia, Daniel, Catherin, Belinda and Calvin.  They lived in Federal Way for over 30 years, during this time, Judy became a school bus driver for Federal Way, which she just loved.  She often said she couldn’t believe she got paid to do this.  She drove school bus for over 19 years until her Rheumatoid Arthritis finally forced her to retire.  For a few years, she was also a Sunday School Teacher for Kindergarten and first graders at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Federal Way.  In 1995 Judy and Wayne moved to Bremerton, WA, then in 2001 they moved to their Current home in Buckley, WA .  She loved to sew and knit for her family, until the Rheumatoid Arthritis finally took that away.  She loved her family and was always proud and happy with each addition of 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 4 great step-grandchildren.  Judy was received into the glory of heaven on 9 January 2020, at Tacoma General Hospital.  A memorial service will be held Sat. January 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Weeks’ Funeral Home in Buckley.
