Leonard Randall Obituary

Leonard Charles Randall was born July 14, 1933 in Medora North Dakota to Evelyn Clair and Harry Richard Randall and entered into Heaven on June 12, 2021 in Auburn Washington. Len was the youngest of three siblings, brother Jerry (wife Billie) and sister Rosey (husband Grant). He attended West Seattle High School and received offers from every college for full scholarships (and a few bribes) to come play football at their college, but he chose U of W. Len became an all-American Football player. Len entered the United States Navy during the Korean War at Point Mugu in California in 1953 and served 3 years. In 1956 Len played football for the San Francisco 49ers for one season for $5,500. He roomed with Earl Morral that year. When the 49ers called and asked him to come back and play the following year, he had been hired on with King County Sheriff’s department in 1957 and was making more money than they offered. Len went on to become a Sergeant and the Head of Homicide. He ran the King County Jail for a while.  He was the lead investigator on the Green River Killer Task Force, the Riot Squad, and taught certified Sniper school for the F.B.I. Len had lifetime friends from this police department. He retired with 30 years on the force. Len played for the Seattle Ramblers a semi-pro football team, where he earned the Best Defensive Player award in 1958, received the Inspirational Award in 1961, and was later inducted into their Hall of Fame.

In his lifetime Len built and moved over 20 homes, including plumbing, wiring, and roofing. He loved God, family, friends, and this country. Anyone who knew Len, knew he was an avid hunter. He really liked garage sales, Westerns, clocks, roses, and not wearing his hearing aids. He loved his morning breakfast club, it changed places and faces, but most mornings you would find him with close friends that became family. He would bring doughnuts to church every week at Calvary Temple and that translated into what we called his doughnut ministry.

Len married Barbara Lee Hixenbaugh in 1959, they were happily married for 53 years before she entered into Heaven on September 20, 2012.

Leonard is survived by his 3 children, Kim Randall (wife Patti), Jodi Olson (husband Kennet), and Shawna Hart (husband Dan); 9 grandchildren, Tami (husband Jason), Shelly (husband John), Isaiah, Aurrie (wife Lysan), Kristopher (wife Christa), Kyal (wife Kristen), Kaliber (wife Christine), Karalee (husband Jason), and Kameron (wife April); 27 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dog Honey; 20 wild rabbits in his yard; and an abundant collection of 13 lawn mowers, 15 chainsaws, and 43 fishing poles (and counting).

BOY WILL WE MISS HIM!
