Lloyd Edward Schenk, age 89, passed away at home on November 8, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Lloyd was born on July 3, 1933 to Ralph and Margaret Schenk in Campbell, Nebraska. He grew up on a farm with 8 siblings. In 1953, he met and married Marilyn Young. Together, the couple had three children: Sonja, Dallas and Rhonda (Dee).
In 1957, Lloyd and Marilyn set out West in search of a career that would provide for their growing family and future. They settled in Enumclaw, WA where Lloyd began an apprenticeship. He started his own business in 1975, Lloyd’s Heating & Sheetmetal. He became a reliable community fixture in his years of hard work, he retired in 1990 and passed the business on to his son Dallas. Even in retirement, however, Lloyd was still a regular at the shop and could be found tinkering there most days.
After retirement Lloyd and Marilyn spent many weekends enjoying a 56 acre parcel of land that the couple purchased in 1986. This piece of property, known as “The Farm” to Lloyd and as “The Property” to the rest of the family, became a gathering place for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends and family over the years. Nothing was more satisfying to Lloyd than a hard days’ work, a hot meal, and time spent with his family and loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Dan Crimmins; brothers Marlin, Gilbert and Ken Schenk; and sisters Marge (Schenk) Kudrna and Dorthy (Schenk) Jaulken.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marilyn of Enumclaw; daughter Sonja (Schenk) Crimmins, son Dallas, and daughter Dee (Schenk) Kyllonen and her husband Don; grandchildren: Trevor Crimmins and wife Cara, Heidi (Kyllonen) Aiza and husband Aaron, Becky (Crimmins) Kling and husband Kyler, and Drew Kyllonen and wife Jenney; great-grandchildren: Emily, Andy, Alex, Nina, Brady, Grace, Ruby, Olive and Bear; and his sisters Gloria (Schenk) Steiner, Elenor (Schenk) Burgess and Darlene (Schenk) Davis.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Mt. Rainier Christian Center, 1878 Osceola Street N., Enumclaw, WA 98022.
