Marjorie McCallum Meske was born on August 10, 1934, to Marvin and Lucille (Bubel) McCallum, who owned and operated a fruit and dairy farm, McCallum Orchards, in Jeddo, MI.
Marge was a talented musician, and active all her life in the churches she belonged to. She was pianist at Jeddo United Methodist Church starting at age 15.
She was the Valedictorian of Yale High School, class of 1952. She graduated from Port Huron Junior College with an AA in 1954. She then attended Taylor University and received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
On August 10, 1957, Marge married Richard Meske. They had four children. While raising a family, Marge was also able to attend the University of Michigan and obtain a Master's degree in Social Work. In 1983, Marge moved to Seattle, WA to be closer to her children as they had all moved west. While living in Seattle, Marge was Director of Social Work at Marianwood Nursing Home until her retirement in 1999.
Marge found great fulfillment in activities at her church and in the community. She was a lifelong elder and deacon, a member of the choir, organist, nursery volunteer, and participant in several overseas mission trips.
She is survived by siblings Marvin, Rose and Charles; children Kim (Andy) Newell, Deb (Andrew) Thompson, Bruce and Mike; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by grandson, John Samuel.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellvue Way NE, Bellevue, WA 98004. Interment (family only) at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
