Mark Patrick James

Mark Patrick James, 63 of Auburn, died April 3, 2018 in Seattle, WA.  He was born March 13, 1955 in Tacoma, WA to Russell & Yvonne James.  Mark was a commercial and sports fisherman, and a hunter and gatherer.  He was a tribal activist who fought for treaty rights, elder abuse and Violence Against Women’s Act, water rights, natural resources, and the preservation and revitalization of the Muckleshoot language.  Mark was a member of the Muckleshoot Tribal Council, Fish Commissioner, and Wildlife Conservation Officer.  He enjoyed classic cars and working on hot rods.  He was also a big Seahawks fan.  Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Russell & Yvonne and sister, Sheila James.  He is survived by his spouse, Wendy Burdette of Auburn; sons, Douglas Marquard of Auburn; nephew, Leon Brown; sisters, Lisa (Donnie) James, Connie (Melvin) Daniels, Bonnie (Pete) Jerry, and Melissa (Tony) James all of Auburn.  He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Lavina, Taneesha, Marcus, Kirah, Mazzy, and Gea; and 1 great granddaughter, Ma’Leah. 

A visitation will be held, Thursday, April 05, 2018 at Weeks’ Funeral Home from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

Prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church.  A funeral service will be held, Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Muckleshoot Pentecostal Church with burial at Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park.
