Marlene Rae Rucshner passed away peacefully at her home on October 5th, 2023. Marlene was born on February 6th, 1954, in Seattle, Washington to Stan and June Standford. Marlene moved to South Prairie a few years later after her dad Stan’s passing, and her mom then married Tracy Dormady.
Marlene graduated from White River High School class of 1972. Marlene then started her career with Rainier School in Buckley working until her retirement in 2007. She held various roles and retired as an Attendant Counselor Manager.
In 1978, Marlene married Larry Rucshner and they had two boys Brian and Darren. After nearly twenty-seven years of marriage, they divorced and Marlene moved to Sumner, Washington for a short time. She later moved to Yelm where she purchased her first home. During this time Marlene started working again, this time for the Washington Federation of State Employees field office in Olympia as an office associate until her second retirement in 2016. Marlene moved back to Buckley in 2017 and bought a home. Marlene then went to work at the Bonney Lake Fred Meyer for a short time before she finally retiring for good.
Marlene loved the Olympic Peninsula and beaches. She loved going shopping at little bargain shops, her weekly trips to Walmart, casinos and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed music and concerts. She was constantly singing along. Marlene always loved the Christmas season decorating with all her wonderful Snowmen decorations. She always had a smile and was full of energy and laughter whenever she was in the room. Marlene also had the most enjoyable, loving companionship with her two dogs Penny and Willy, who she always referred to as her children.
Marlene is preceded in death by her father Stan, mother June and stepfather Tracy. Marlene is Survived by her sons Brian (Mara) and Darren of Buckley, WA along with her sister Donna Iverson of Portland, Oregon.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday November 11th, 2023, at 11:00am. The service will be held at Weeks Funeral Home in Buckley, WA, followed by a graveside service. A fellowship/reception following the service will be held at the Buckley Eagles.
