Mary Kendall Obituary

Mary Lou Kendall, 96, of Enumclaw, passed away Sunday, June 14th, 2020 from complications of pneumonia. Per her wishes, her ashes will be interred alongside her husband Edward James (Jack) Kendall at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.

Mary Lou was born in Merced, California to Louis and Mary Susan (Newcomer) Wilson and was an older sister to Wallace and Eileen.  She graduated from Merced High School in 1942 and on November 13th, 1943 married Welton Roger King (also from Merced HS) in Tucson, Arizona.  Witness to the wedding was Edward J. Kendall from Chowchilla, California who was serving in the Army Air Force with Welton.

Welton, Mary Lou, and family lived in many states as well as overseas in England and Japan.  Mary Lou was widowed in 1967 when Welton died at age 42 while serving overseas.  In time she married longtime family friend and widower Jack Kendall and relocated to the Seattle area.  Jack and Mary Lou moved to the Enumclaw plateau in the 1980's.

Her husband Jack Kendall died in 2007 at age 82 and not long after Mary Lou moved from the family home into High Point Village of Enumclaw, a retirement community.

Mary Lou is survived by 3 children and 3 stepchildren: Rodger Wilson King (Peggy), Ronald James Kendall (Colleen), Kathleen Diane Bertuzzi (Mark), Randall Gene Kendall, Douglas Michael King (Carol), and Nancy Kay Kendall.  Mary Lou also considered Maureen and Jeff Moyer her children as well. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Chris, Cheryl, Kirsti, Kevin, Kris, Ken, Jason, Craig, Carol, Brian, Michelle, Jared, Kendall, and Chandler; many great and great great grandchildren; and her sister Eileen Garske. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her brother Wally.

An accomplished pianist and vocalist, Mary Lou also enjoyed knitting and travel.  She was a friendly, outgoing, loving, caring person and had many, many friends. Mary Lou will be missed by many, as her joyful spirit affected everyone she knew.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. Please share a memory on the tribute wall.
