Mathew Weisbeck passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family, and enveloped in love, on February 14, 2021. He was 64.

One of eleven children, Mathew was born June 5, 1956 to Pete and Alice Weisbeck in Veradale, Washington. He attended Gonzaga Prep, and moved to Seattle after graduation to continue his studies at the University of Washington, and later at Seattle University. During this time, he met the love of his life, Carol on a blind date, marrying her on December 29, 1979.

After working at several other parishes in Washington State, Mathew came to Enumclaw in 1995, joining Sacred Heart Catholic Church as the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formationand later becoming the Pastoral Associate. During his 26 years serving Sacred Heart, Mathew supported the parish in countless ways, from liturgy to leadership development, but especially in his focus and passion of adult and family enrichment.

Mathew deeply loved his family and friends. He was a life force, filling every room with his energy, wisdom, kindness, faith, and laughter. He loved reading and music and carried a lifelong passion for astronomy.

Mathew is survived by his partner, Carol; two daughters, Sophie and Rachel; two sons, Peter and Daniel; 3 sisters, Vicki, Loretta, and Cathy; and 7 brothers, Dave, Joe, Bob, Rick, Stan, Pat, and Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Alice.

Mathew was loved so dearly by so many. His funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Enumclaw. Due to COVID-19 restrictions the service is by invitation only.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions be made to Heifer International or Plateau Outreach Ministries. Please share a memory of Mathew on the tribute wall
